Who is Lucky Acorn?
I just love this part! It's where I get to talk about myself! I am obviously creative and imaginative. I am old enough to know I shouldn't, and young enough to think I could if I wanted to.
I love nature and all the critters that roam. Well, most of them anyway. I love long, quiet walks in the woods. I enjoy nature untouched and wild, whether it is a simple Bluebird, or an absolutely breathtaking Great Blue Heron. I don't mind some crawly things, as long as they are in their place...And not mine!
I have several cats, a lizard and a gorgeous 130 lb. German, Black-faced Rottweiller, who sings when commanded with hand signals. (As long as you're holding a biscuit.)
I'm not perfect, I have few pet peeves. I don't like lazy people, people who prefer not to tell the truth, or people who wallow in self-pity. One of my favorite sayings, coined by "yours truly", is: "It's OK to take a dip in the Pity Pot, but you should never stay long enough to swim."
Sound a little strong? Nah, I'm friendly and easy-going once I get past my passion for perfection.
I am an artist of sorts. I have painted in oils and sketched in charcoal. I created Botanical Sculptures, some of which hang in the finest homes. Perhaps one day I will explain the craft to you.
I have been writing for years, short stories, poems and children's books. Although much of my work has not been formally published, many of my hand made, illustrated, children's books adorn the library shelves of our local elementary schools. I believe writing is my first true love, and something I pursue today!
WHO IS BIRD?
'Bird' is my sister, and she will be working with me at THE ACORN TREE. Of course, 'Bird' is not her real name, it's a pet name I have for her. Don't worry, she has plenty of names she calls me too, but we won't go there.
'Bird' is a country girl, who loves the great outdoors. As a matter of fact, 'Bird' loves camping and cooking outdoors. She also loves her kids, cats, kittens, dog, and ferrets. That's right! Ferrets, she has two. I won't tell you their names....I'll let her do that.
Now, I could tell you a few things about 'Bird', but I figure I will leave that to her. After all, you wouldn't like it if I talked about you behind your back now, would you? So once we get up and going, she will share some things about herself with you.
As I said, 'Bird' will be working with me here. She'll be handling all the goodies on our cookin' page. Be sure to check often to see what she has for you. She knows some interesting shortcuts, and is great at changing ingredients in order to make a recipe more affordable and fun.
